Help with the cost of Funeral Expenses

1. Are you arranging this funeral and taking responsibility for payment of the funeral costs?
2. Are you, or your partner, currently in receipt of, or waiting to hear about a claim for one of the following qualifying benefits?
Income Support, Income Based Job Seekers
Allowance, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Working Tax Credit (which in¬cludes a disability or severe disability element, Child Tax Credit (at a rate higher than the family element)
3. Did the deceased ordinarily live in the
U.K. and is the funeral to take place in the
U.K. (This must usually be the case)
Your claim will fail.

You should discuss your financial situation with the Funeral Director before proceeding with the funeral
arrangements.

Are there any cash or savings or redeemable financial policies available from the deceased’s estate or any other contributions from relatives of the deceased or relatives of yourself which are available towards the cost of funeral expenses?
You should proceed with your claim,
Which may be reduced by the amount available from the deceased’s estate or funds from other sources as mentioned opposite.
Unless you are the partner of the deceased, is there a parent or child of the deceased who is not in re¬ceipt of a qualifying benefit and is not under 18. Or is there a close relative other than a child under age 18 or a close relative living outside the UK who was in close contact with the deceased and is not getting a qualifying benefit. Each case will be con¬sidered according to individual circumstances.

You may get help if a child has died for whom you were responsible and there is no absent parent (unless they were getting one of the benefits above or were estranged from the child at the time of death) or you were the parent of a still born child.
