Coroners Cases
Deaths reported to the Coroner are
sudden or unexpected or whose death may be due to
industrial disease. Registration cannot take place
until the Coroners inquiries are complete. Where cremation
is specified the Coroner will issue the certificate
for cremation direct to the funeral director. Where
burial is specified and no inquest is held the registrar
will issue the certificate for Burial or Cremation
(green in colour). Where an inquest has been held
the Coroner will issue an Order for Burial certificate.
Unless the cause of death is difficult to ascertain
or if the death is subject to a Police inquiry there
should be no major delay in arranging a day for the
funeral. When a Post Mortem examination has taken
place in most cases we can make it possible for you
to still pay your last respects at the Chapel of Rest
if you so wish. We would advise you if we thought
it best for you not to attend.
